1. Q: Rapid and realistic assessment of the sand production potential based on minimal and easily acquired data (reservoir properties, formation properties. fluid data and well data).
A: There are two parts in SAND_PRO for sanding potential: empirical and quantified predictions. In the former those empirical correlations developed by industries are collected and provided as a estimate for sanding potential. The merits for such a model is that the sanding potential can be predicted by using the simple data such as sonic velocity and dynamics shear modulus. Alternatively, more accurate sanding potential can be forecast by either simple analytical and comprehensive solutions with well data such as logging.
2.Q: Prediction of the onset condition of sand production as a function of various operating condition for a pay zone interval.
A: Three major categories are defined in SAND_PRO about the onset of sand prediction: 1) foot-by-foot pay zone sanding prediction verse logging generated or self-design cohesive strength profile; 2) onset of sanding prediction for a directional well which is assumed to be drilled and producing in any orientation against a 3D space and stress regimes; 3)onset of sand erosion and massive skeleton sanding prediction with a multiphase flow conditions.
In all the above mentioned options, various operational conditions are used as changeable input, i.e. BHP, flow rate, well orientation, temperature, sand control strategies.
